It's A Brand New Day!

By: Beth Victoria Suwito

Every day is a brand new day itself. A fresh start and a clean slate. Though, sometimes we forget about that. Sometimes we wallow in yesterday’s despair and think of today as nothing but an extension of yesterday. Even so, this is a reminder that your week isn’t determined by one bad day!

If you had a pretty bad yesterday, start the day by listening to “Brand New Day” by Cherrybelle to lift up your mood for today. Why that song specifically? Well, here are a few lyrics from that song that can really help you brighten your day!

1. “Tunjukkan dunia kau pasti bisa” / “Show the world that you can”

This is for those times when you feel like you’re not enough or just unmotivated. You have to remember that you can and that you are capable. Society can really bring us down with their expectations and standards but this is your chance to show them otherwise. Show them that you can!

2. “Just be strong, just be brave, and be sure, yes you can”

The lyric is pretty self-explanatory but this is a reminder; the world we live in is a scary place and there will always be things that we’re scared of. The key is to stay strong, be brave, and be sure because you can!

3. “Janganlah kau ragu tuk maju, kejar semua impianmu” / “Don’t hesitate to go forward, chase all your dreams”

Don’t hesitate to move forward in your journey to chase your dreams and goals. Some people are going to try to break your spirit but remember that this is your life and you are the only one with complete control over it.

4. “Hadapi semua rintangan, kuatkanlah tekadmu” / “Face all the obstacles, strengthen your determination”

Obstacles will always be there and it won’t get easier, but we’re sure you can get through all of them. As long as you never give up and stay determined, you’ll be able to pass those obstacles like the winner of “American Ninja Warrior”.

5. “Yakinkanlah dirimu, it’s a brand new day!”

How today goes will depend on how you view it. It’s a new page, a clean slate, A BRAND NEW DAY.

Good Damage: Justifying the Trauma, Does it All Happen for a Reason?

by: Rebecca Karenia “All the damage I got isn't good damage.. it's just.. damage. I haven't got nothing out of it and all those years I was miserable was for nothing.” The quote you see above was taken from Diane's monologue from the show Bojack Horseman. The character Diane Nguyen, a 40 year old aspiring writer, was contemplating whether she should continue writing her first book or stop altogether since it does not serve any purpose to all the hardships and trauma she went through. Sounds familiar? Let's dive deep into it! Oftentimes you may find yourself thinking that the trauma you’ve gone through in the past, happens to you for a reason. It must’ve happened with a purpose, right? And so in order to serve this purpose, you forge strength and resilience to become someone different- someone who learned from their mistakes. Someone who knows better about the truth and harshness of the real world. You define your own suffering and give it a whole new meaning so th...

3 Autobiography about Women's Life Journey Finding Their Identity and Peace

by: Asti Hayan Educated  by Tara Westover “To admit uncertainty is to admit to weakness, to powerlessness, and to believe in yourself despite both. It is a frailty, but in this frailty there is a strength: the conviction to live in your own mind, and not in someone else’s.” Educated is a memoir about the struggle for self-discovery. Tara was raised in a survivalist family who didn't believe in the establishment including the government, health and education system. She never went to school nor hospital until she turned 17. Tara educated herself and she taught herself enough to get into Brigham Young University. Her upbringing coming from a particularly unusual family brought her to see education as a great mechanism of self-invention.
