Why you should listen to: On Purpose with Jay Shetty

by: Widya Soenarso

With more than 50 million downloads from all over the world in the first year of his podcast launch, Jay Shetty’s podcast is positively impacting how we see life, work, our loved ones, and even ourselves.

His journey from a monk, to corporate employee, to social media and content creator isn’t the traditional path one would usually take for their career. Struggling to find purpose and direction in his life led him to where he is today with his wisdom.

Depending on the topic and the featured guest, one episode could run from 20 minutes to 1.5 hours.

Some of the high-profile speakers include notable people from business, philanthropy, writers, research and educational practitioners, to celebrities and artists. In a way, they all bring something different to the table – a study or personal experience that shows vulnerability and eye-opening perspectives.

Topics that are usually found in his series are life lessons on love and relationships, strategies for work and leadership, personal growth, as well as how we can contribute to society as part of our community service.

Some of our notable and favorite episodes are:

1.      How To Attract & Manifest ANYTHING YOU WANT In Life! | Will Smith & Jay Shetty

2.      How To Destroy Your NEGATIVE THOUGHTS & Achieve Anything You Want | Lilly Singh

3.      "This ONE SECRET Will Make You SUCCESSFUL In Life!" | Priyanka Chopra Jonas & Jay Shetty

4.      Kendall Jenner Opens Up About Anxiety, Insecurity, & How to Be Truly Happy! | Jay Shetty

5.      Michael Dell ON: Dreaming Bigger Than Your Goals & How to Play Nice but Win

Good Damage: Justifying the Trauma, Does it All Happen for a Reason?

by: Rebecca Karenia “All the damage I got isn't good damage.. it's just.. damage. I haven't got nothing out of it and all those years I was miserable was for nothing.” The quote you see above was taken from Diane's monologue from the show Bojack Horseman. The character Diane Nguyen, a 40 year old aspiring writer, was contemplating whether she should continue writing her first book or stop altogether since it does not serve any purpose to all the hardships and trauma she went through. Sounds familiar? Let's dive deep into it! Oftentimes you may find yourself thinking that the trauma you’ve gone through in the past, happens to you for a reason. It must’ve happened with a purpose, right? And so in order to serve this purpose, you forge strength and resilience to become someone different- someone who learned from their mistakes. Someone who knows better about the truth and harshness of the real world. You define your own suffering and give it a whole new meaning so th...

Are You Self-Sabotaging?

Have you ever thought to yourself that you’re not deserving of something? Perhaps good grades, a job offer, or even a promotion? Or maybe, when something good goes your way, you become skeptical and suspect that it’s too good to be true. If yes, then you are showing signs of self-sabotage. Self-sabotage is a common phenomenon, it happens to us all. Self-sabotage is when we consciously or unconsciously disrupt our success and well-being – mentally, physically, emotionally, socially, or even spiritually. Naturally, self-sabotage is a defense mechanism. Our brains are wired to avoid taking risks or doing something uncomfortable. When we step out of our comfort zone, a signal in our brain sends a warning to our bodies that we may be in danger or in a difficult situation. This signaling might not be able to differentiate what kind of discomfort we’re facing – whether being challenged to a new role in our work or running away from danger, so we run away from it altogether. For some peo...
