The Law of Attraction Is Way More Than Just Positive Thinking

by: Ilma Rosyidah

The word manifestation is now massively used by many to claim a certain energy, picture of success, or life achievement. Manifestation is closely related to the term “Law of Attraction” which generally means controlling the energy of your thoughts to attract specific results into reality.

It signifies that your positive thoughts will bring positive results and vice versa. In some ways, you might doubt that your belief system can really make changes in your life. But this law of attraction comes up with reasonable concepts and ways to adopt it in your life.

If you are dealing with some kind of unhelpful thoughts that drag you to be pessimistic, anxious, and overthink, you should consider manifestation or the law of attraction as a way to get better. Have you ever been told by the elders to not say something bad and be careful of everything you say because the universe could make it come true? A similar concept is applied in the law of attraction.

Positive thinking attracts positive results. Negative thinking attracts negative experiences.

Through this holistic approach, you are invited to truly believe that you deserve your goals and are capable of making them come true. Your positive thoughts towards your life are your starting point. Yes, it is your start but not the only one you need to work on. You have to think, feel, and act as whoever you want yourself to be.

For instance, imagine being a skillful pianist, you must think, feel, and act like a skillful pianist.

The key to this 'magical' power is the way you steer your conscious and subconscious mind. Your conscious mind is whatever you do, see, or are aware of in this current situation. On the contrary, your subconscious mind operates without you being aware of it. It is your habit mind since it functions to store everything you have experienced and determine your behavior, emotions, and beliefs. You create life goals using your conscious mind meanwhile being pessimistic or optimistic about it involves your subconscious mind. A psychologist and clinical assistant professor at the NYU School of Medicine, Rachel Goldman, Ph.D. explained that human thought, emotion, and behavior are linked and mutually influenced by one another, hence the thought takes an important role in affecting the way humans feel and act. It implies the way you bring your thoughts will be reflected in your actions. Once you start to replace your unhelpful thoughts with more optimism, new opportunities will come your way.

As has been mentioned before, attracting your dreams into reality cannot stop in your head. It works in coordination with behavior. You create and live in it. It might be hard at first since your subconscious mind is not used to changes. Here are some methods to cultivate this law of attraction.

1. Accept your current condition.

Allocate your time to analyze any obstacles that hinder you to achieve your dreams. Accept your emotion and thoughts then try to combat your negative thoughts that are not necessarily true. It is a good start in modifying your subconscious mind.

2. Visualize your dreams and keep them measurable and achievable.

Plan clear goals so that you can formulate the precise steps to slowly achieve the goals.

3. Practice gratitude.

Appreciate the present moment as a way to be grateful instead of wasting the moment worrying about the uncertain future. Write down things you are grateful for because it will make you more conscious of the good things you have got in life.

4. Practice positive talk.

Talk to yourself and others with a positive tone. Avoid destructive words by replacing them with more positive terms. Send out the thoughts of "I might fail", "I will never be good at this", "I am not going somewhere" and substitute them by telling yourself, "I am living my dream", "I get better and improved every time I'm working on my goals", "I am proud of my progress". Let your subconscious mind store those repeated positive words towards yourself hence it will reshape your belief, habit, and attitude. You can go further by vibrating your positivity towards others then you will attract the same energy. Be mindful of your words and hold yourself to not drag other people down.

Some wisdom to be kept in mind through the journey:

Through the law of attraction, you are suggested to feel, do, and be positive so that you will be attracting your dreams into reality. But it doesn't necessarily mean you should always expect something good to happen, then it will make you lose control when bad events come your way. Instead, you are encouraged to confront the fear inside your head. If you worry about an event, start thinking about the worst case that would likely happen. Think about how you would respond to it so you won't drag yourself into negativity for too long.

Good Damage: Justifying the Trauma, Does it All Happen for a Reason?

by: Rebecca Karenia “All the damage I got isn't good damage.. it's just.. damage. I haven't got nothing out of it and all those years I was miserable was for nothing.” The quote you see above was taken from Diane's monologue from the show Bojack Horseman. The character Diane Nguyen, a 40 year old aspiring writer, was contemplating whether she should continue writing her first book or stop altogether since it does not serve any purpose to all the hardships and trauma she went through. Sounds familiar? Let's dive deep into it! Oftentimes you may find yourself thinking that the trauma you’ve gone through in the past, happens to you for a reason. It must’ve happened with a purpose, right? And so in order to serve this purpose, you forge strength and resilience to become someone different- someone who learned from their mistakes. Someone who knows better about the truth and harshness of the real world. You define your own suffering and give it a whole new meaning so th

Finding the Freedom in Feeling Left Behind

by: Ilma Rosyidah Everyone has their own timeline. But the feeling of being left behind becomes uncontrollable when everyone else seems to be reaching another stage in life while you still don’t know what to do. Feeling left behind in some ways can lead you to lose your freedom.    The days go by so fast before you might even notice your New Year’s resolutions still showing no progress. At the same time, the idea of breaking the distance through technology makes you easily exposed to everybody’s life, even the ones you don't really know.
