Have you ever felt you have literally zero motivation to do anything, or lost your enthusiasm for doing something you used to love? Well, what you experienced or even still experiencing may be demotivation. Feeling demotivated, restless, and anxious is not pleasant. It can make it more difficult for you to work, to be creative and even to feel good about yourself and the things around you. One of the causes of demotivation may be because you feel you can’t do something optimally or can also be caused by physical, mental, or emotional fatigue due to excessive stress. However, it should be noted that each person has a different root of lack of motivation. It is important to identify the cause of our demotivation for you to be able to address it and reduce the feelings of restlessness. Some signs that you may be demotivated that you need to know include:
Isolating yourself from the environment
When someone is demotivated, they have no interest in socializing, even just doing what they used to like, such as doing hobbies. So someone who is experiencing demotivation will tend to ignore the surrounding environment.
Loss of interest in developing yourself
Someone will feel disinterested in doing certain things because they are losing the enthusiasm to do them. For that, if you are demotivated, you should take a break and return to doing it after you feel better.
There is an excessive fear
Loss of initiative can also appear along with excessive fear in yourself so it can eliminate your interest in developing yourself. Excessive feelings of fear can hinder you because it makes you a pessimistic person.
Some common ways you can overcome these feelings easily and find your motivation back include taking a timeout from your activities, doing hands-on work (get off your screens and interact with the physical world!), scheduling something fun for the day, working your imagination (it’s always a good thing to use your imagination to escape from the real world and imagine your own happy place) and practicing self-care! These are all great ways to help find your rhythm again and get you back in the flow.
However, you should take in mind that demotivation is completely normal! Everyone has and/or will experience demotivation at least once in their life. You should not feel you are alone in this. Take your time, slowly try to find the cause of your demotivation and you should not be embarrassed to ask for help from the people around you.
